Budget System
Overview
Each site starts every new program year with a requested budget, which is subsequently revised as needed until the full program year has been completed. At the end of this process, a final budget revision is prepared and submitted online to the NWP national office. The data from the final budget are used for statistical analysis by NWP researchers. In addition, the budgets and analyses will be reviewed in February as part of NWP's annual peer review of all Continued Funding Applications from sites.
What's New?
Beginning this year, sites will be able to view (and edit, if applicable) budgets from multiple program years. More information is available in the Help section of the system.
Accessing the Budget System
Initially, only NWP site directors are able to access the budget system, but a site director may log in to the system and delegate the preparation and submission of budget data to other people, provided those people have established NWPi profiles with the correct writing project site affiliation. Last year's delegates must be reauthorized by the director before they will have access to the system.
The system will be available September 5, 2008 from this page or from a director's or delegate's NWPi home page under the heading "Tasks".
Current Task
Prepare and submit your site's 2009–2010 requested budget in time for the January 8, 2009 deadline.
Please note: New 2009–2010 budget worksheets will be available in the system by early December. Sites that need to prepare budgets for university grants office approval prior to December should temporarily use an older Excel budget as a template.
